Ornaments make great gifts for people of all ages! Select from our large inventory of festive, joyous, finely crafted American "New World" Christmas classics for the best decorations and holiday, baby and/or bridal gifts that will bring pleasure for a lifetime. The involvement of the craftsperson with the media in which s/he works makes that piece special and gives it value.

A factory may manufacture a practical object at a lower price, but it cannot reproduce the essence of craft- innovative, personal and distinct from all others. When someone buys a hand crafted piece, they are buying a small part of the craftsman - some of her/ his time in making the object, sense of design and color, and skill with the media. Ornaments are a great way to begin collecting an artist's works - festive, joyous, and personal.

Stillpoint Studio
The Raku Ornament Collection. Elaine Yoneoka creates ceramic ornaments using a special firing method developed 300 years ago called Raku. Heated to 1800° F, the piece is pulled out of the kiln and put into a container filled with sawdust where the wood immediately bursts into flames. The fire and smoke react with metals in the glaze to give the various colors and flashings on each piece. Yoneoka  Studios, Jamaica Plain, MA.

Blown Glass Ornaments

The involvement of the craftsperson with the media in which s/ he is working makes her/ his craft special and gives the craft its value. A factory may manufacture a more practical object at a lower price, but it cannot reproduce the essence of craft. When someone buys a craft, they are buying a small part of the craftsman-some of her/ his time in making the object, skill with the media, and sense of design and color.

Glassblowers have a commitment to beautiful glass! During the ancient arduous craft of glass blowing, the artist gathers the 2000° F molten glass out of gas furnaces at the end of a 41/2 foot stainless steel rod called blowpipes, manipulates the glass by blowing air into it, cradles it in wet newspaper, rolls it on a hard polished metal table and twirls the blowpipe using centrifugal force, as constant motion is vital. They skillfully shape and blow the glass into designs using traditional hand tools and techniques that have been used for centuries.

During this creative stage of the process, color is introduced and the array of color makes the creating of a piece of glass an art form as the applications are virtually infinite. The artist continues to improve skills and design sense through constant experimentation, by frequent contact with other glass artists and by participating in workshops.

While signed limited edition pieces are offered in an annual series of numbered pieces, multiple pieces of similar shapes and designs (such as ornaments) are unnumbered signature pieces now being noticed by beginning art glass collectors. Individually, or in a collection, these ornaments make truly elegant gifts to be treasured for generations.
